Please book here for small groups of 12 students or fewer to visit Manchester Museum.  

For a shorter visit, please use our afternoon booking form instead (afternoon slots start from 1.30pm, when galleries are less busy).

IMPORTANT DATES TO NOTE:

8-13 September: Ancient Egypt & Sudan Gallery closed

12th October onwards: Disruption in the Vivarium as animals are removed ahead of the Vivarium redisplay.

1st November 2026 until 16th May 2027: The Vivarium will be closed for redisplay and during this period there will be no step-free access to Nature’s Library. Please contact school.bookings@manchester.ac.uk to discuss alternative arrangements.

16-19 March & 20-23 April 2027: Fossils and Dinosaurs Galleries will be closed. You will be provided with an alternative timetable for your self-guided time during your visit.

16th March to 25th April 2027: Stan the T. rex will not be on display in the Fossils Gallery (April the Tenontosaurus will still be in the Dinosaur Gallery).

 

We have a maximum of 3 different slots available to book on certain days:

  • All slots are based on an arrival time of 10.00am, however these timings can be adjusted after your booking has been confirmed.
  • All slots also include a 30-minute lunch break in our public Picnic Area. Please let us know if you do not require this.
  • A Big Question package can be added for free.  
  • Please note that if your visit includes time in the Ancient Egypt & Sudan Gallery, from mid-September onwards there will be no mummified remains of people on display.

What else do I need to know? 

  • Your visit is likely to include seeing taxidermied (deceased) animals. Supporting pre-visit resources will be provided. 
  • A Hazard ID list and our Risk Assessments are provided when you make your booking.

If you wish to book multiple dates, or multiple classes on the same date, please check the availability first for each selection and then create separate bookings for each selection.
