Which Timetable should I choose?

We have four different timetables available to book:

  • All timetables assume an arrival time of 10:00am and departure at 2:00pm.
  • All include a 30-minute lunch break in our public Picnic Area.
  • Timetables 1 and 2 focus more on the human history areas of the museum, including the Archaeology and Egypt and Sudan galleries.
  • Timetable 3 focuses on natural science galleries.
  • Timetable 4 offers a more balanced mix across the museum.
  • If you are bringing one class for the day, Timetable 4 is likely to have the best availability.
  • If you wish to bring three classes on the same day, please book Timetables 1, 2, and 3. Please note that availability for these timetables is limited.
  • Changes to timetables can be requested after booking, we will endeavour to accommodate requests where possible.
  • A Big Question package can be added for free to any timetable.
  • Please note that timetables includes time in the Ancient Egypt and Sudan Gallery, from mid-September onwards there will be no mummified remains of people on display.

What else do I need to know?

  • The minimum adult to pupil ratios (excluding adults providing 1:1 support) that we recommend for school visits are: 1:6 for Early Years & KS1; 1:8 for KS2; and 1:15 for KS3, KS4 & Post-16.
  • Your visit is likely to include seeing taxidermied (deceased) animals. Supporting pre-visit resources will be provided.
