"… Absolutely fantastic … The children loved it.” - Simmondley Primary School

How do museums create exhibitions about the natural world? – and can your pupils make their own display in an hour and a half?

Using our Natural Science collections, this 90 minute workshop will build on the Big Question: Which is the most important scientific specimen in Manchester Museum?

Through gallery games and interactive challenges, pupils will:

LOOK,handle, and describe the animals they see, from hedgehogs and echidnas to green sea turtles, possums, and baby rabbits!

CONNECTitems together to create a new museum display

EXPLAIN their groupings and justify their ‘star object’ selection, ready for the grand opening of their museum

WONDER at what else they could investigate about the natural world

This workshop includes time on the Living Worlds gallery and the opportunity to find out how and why some museums have taxidermied (stuffed!) animals in their collections
